        Achievement of Student Competencies and Values

        The Tacoma Bible College educational experience is designed to transfer to the student all the vital competencies required of twenty-first century Christian leaders:

        Academic Competence
        • Equip students with the ability to research and study new subjects for themselves and to cultivate a lifestyle of lifelong learning.
        • Instill in each student a biblical worldview.
        • Provide students with a comprehensive general academic education.
        • Develop in each student the ability to communicate effectively and accurately through both the written and spoken word. 

        Biblical Competence:
        • Assure students attain a comprehensive knowledge of the Bible and an understanding of Christian doctrine.
        • Develop in students the ability to accurately interpret and effectively communicate the Word of God in a variety of contexts.
        • Equip students with the ability to present a reasoned explanation of the doctrine's integral to Scripture and to defend the historic Christian faith.
        • Instill in each student a complete understanding of the gospel and the ability to present the gospel to unbelievers in a clear and winsome way. 
        • Develop with each student skills in applying biblical academic principles to practical situations.
        • Foster the capacity with each student for self-learning so that they can be a life-long student of the Word of God.

        Christian Ministry Competence:
        • Instill in each student a vital missionary vision and dedication to worldwide service.
        • Foster a compassionate response to social needs in attitude and action.
        • Equip students with the ability and confidence to provide service to the community at large and the Christian community in particular.
        • Provide students experience in winning the lost to Christ and equip them to employ a variety of evangelistic methods.
        • Afford students training to serve with proficiency in one or more spheres of Christian service.
        • Develop in each student a living sensitivity, motivated by the love of God, toward serving others.

        Christian Life Competence:
        • Prepare Christians to successfully function wherever God’s plan for their life takes them.
        • Cultivate Christian living through a variety of learning experiences and personal interactions.
        • Promote Christian culture in terms of refinement, appreciation, social attitudes, and skills.
        • Teach students the importance and capability to disciple other believers for spiritual formation in the image of Christ.
        • Develop leadership capacity within each student such as initiative, planning, organization, and supervision skills to enable them to lead others in ecclesiastical and workplace contexts.
