Statement of Ethical Values and Standards

All statements and policies expressed in college publications are based on Tacoma Bible College's general ethical values and standards of personal integrity, honesty, authenticity, and transparency.  These general values reflect the ethical principles revealed in Scripture and in the life of Jesus Christ, and are founded on the ethical standards to "love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind...Love your neighbor as yourself." Mt 22:37-39; Gal 5:22-23; Eph 4:1-5:21

        Educational Philosophy

At TBC, it is believed that the foundation of truth, knowledge, and wisdom is found in and imparted through the inspired Word of God.  The Word communicates the reason for the school's existence, its organization, the direction and content of its curriculum, and its motivation for service.

The Word also communicates that man is made in the image of God for the expressed purpose of knowing and glorifying Him.  Man cannot know or honor God because he is a sinner separated from God by nature and choice.  But God graciously gave His Son, Jesus Christ, to save a lost humanity.  Those who respond to His saving grace receive the Holy Spirit who fills, blesses, and illuminates the believer to the truth.

One cannot have true wisdom apart from knowing God.  The inspired Word of God declares Him to be the Truth and Depository of all wisdom and knowledge.  He is our provision for life and conduct, and He is our Master Teacher.  He has gifted and trained teachers to communicate divine viewpoint and its relationship to the natural sciences and one's self-image.  An individual's success in life is dependent upon a healthy respect for God, receipt of the revelation of His grace, and obedience to His Word.

The faculty members are committed to modeling Christian character for the students as an essential part of the learning process. The faculty does not merely impart knowledge but seeks to develop disciples of the Lord Jesus who will impact their world for His sake.  Tacoma Bible College holds that learning occurs through various means including observation, instruction, and research. The choice of curriculum, methods, and materials is based upon biblical principles and their resultant purpose of doing the work of the church.

        Guiding Principles

In response to its commitment to Christian higher education, Tacoma Bible College has adopted the following guiding principles:

        • TBC values the declaration of the infallible Word of God among all people (2 Tim. 3.16-17; Col. 1.28).
        • TBC values instruction that combines theory and practice with relevant ministry needs (Eph. 4.11-13).
        • TBC values an environment that promotes spiritual growth and transformation (Eph. 3.16-19).
        • TBC values personal integrity in our students, faculty, staff, and business practices (1 Thess. 2.10-12).

        • TBC values a community of faith and learning that embraces men and women who are diverse in ethnic, economic, social, and national backgrounds (Gal. 3.27-28).
